One thing I love about my job is the great people I get to work with. One of my newest clients is Kirk Cameron. Yes, that Kirk Cameron of 80s Growing Pains fame (and more recently of the Left Behind movies). One day, I answer my voice mail and I get this: "Hi Chris, this is Kirk Cameron. I don't know if you know who I am, but I played Mike Seaver on Growing Pains..." Well, I have to admit I probably saw every episode of that show when I was in high school. My sister was a huge Kirk fan.
Turns out Kirk is publishing a book for his mom entitled "A Full House of Growing Pains". It is a memoir of sorts about raising a family in the limelight of Hollywood. The Full House reference is to Kirk's sister Candance who played "D.J." on that 80s series (the show with the Olsen Twins).
Over the last month or so I have had the privilege of working with Kirk on the cover. It has been a kick and he is the real deal—very down to earth and genuine. Now a committed professing Christian, Kirk works with Ray Comfort on a weekly telelvision show entitled "The Way of the Master." Ray is an evangelist who goes to the people with the gospel and does open-air preaching and such. I worked with Ray on a lot of the details of the book and he is a very patient and gracious man. Be sure to check out their website.
